You
A team of 5 developers. Each has Claude Code open. Each is typing the same instructions: 'Use TypeScript. Follow our naming conventions. Don't modify the database directly.' Five people, five identical system prompts, typed from memory every morning. One developer's version has a typo: 'Do modify the database directly.' Office, wide shot.

Five developers on your team. Each one manually types Claude Code instructions every morning.

Developer A remembers the database rule. Developer B forgets it. Developer C has a typo that reverses it. Developer D adds extra rules nobody agreed on. Developer E uses completely different conventions.

Same team. Same codebase. Five different Claude configurations. The result: inconsistent code, a database migration that shouldn't have happened, and a merge conflict that took 3 hours to resolve.

The team didn't have a shared CLAUDE.md. So every developer was running a different version of Claude.
