Two ways to get dinner.

Option A: You sit at a table. Read a menu. Tell the waiter "chicken parmesan." Food arrives. You never see the kitchen. You don't know how they made it. You don't care.

Option B: You walk into the kitchen yourself. You don't know where anything is. You don't know the recipes. The chef is yelling at you in French. You burn something. Fire alarm goes off.

The menu is an API. You order in the right format. You get what you asked for. The kitchen stays hidden.
